My girls have been in London for a few days with their granny so it has been very peaceful at home – just me and the dog. Granny had offered to drop the girls back home so we thought it might be nice to take the dogs for a walk and then find a decent country pub that would welcome all three dogs.
I was recommended the Curzon Arms in Woodhouse Eaves as a dog friendly pub with good food and a relaxed atmosphere. With Tonka only being 8 months old he’s still not perfectly pub trained so we were a little anxious but there was no need to be!
We had a lovely walk in Outwoods and arrived at the Curzon Arms (only a mile away) but about 1.30pm. We were warmly welcomed and the dogs were offered a bowl of water. The atmosphere was relaxed and family friendly and we settled at our table in the bar. It is an old pub with a contemporary feel – traditional wood burning stoves, a bar area as well as restaurant, real ale and a traditional English pub menu. Imogen and I decided on the Home-made Beef and Ale Pie which was a 20 minute wait but we were happy with that. It was worth it – puff pastry on a tasty beef filling with delicious chunky chips. Scarlett had the Scampi and Chips and my mother-in-law had the Traditional Fish & Chips. All delicious.
I would thoroughly recommend The Curzon Arms if you are looking for a dog friendly, family friendly pub / restaurant in Leicestershire. Perfect for anything from a lite bite to a full three course meal. Sunday lunch looks good and is not limited to the traditional Sunday Roast as some places are.
